Party Bingo Kit: Classic, People and Theme Bingo

Bingo earns its place at parties because anyone can join in the first ten seconds. Grandparents, five-year-olds and the friend who “doesn’t do games” all understand a grid and a called square. This kit gives you three flavors of bingo from one printout: classic numbers, a people-bingo grid that doubles as an icebreaker, and theme bingo for movie nights and holidays.

What is in the kit

Classic 5×5 number card with a free center square, columns B-I-N-G-O.
People bingo grid — squares like “has been on a boat” or “can whistle a tune”. Guests mingle to find a match for each square.
Theme bingo grid — squares that fill in while you watch a movie or open presents, e.g. “someone says thank you twice”.
Caller sheet for tracking called numbers.
Winning patterns card — line, four corners, letter X and full house.

Setup checklist

Materials

One card per player, plus two spares
Markers: dried beans, buttons, coins or crayons
Numbers 1–75 written on slips of paper in a bowl or bag (or the caller sheet)
Small prizes, one per round plus a few extras

Before the first call

Show the winning pattern for this round on the patterns card
Agree on the call word (“Bingo!” or something sillier)
Seat younger kids next to a helper who can spot numbers with them

How to play (classic)

Hand out cards and markers
Every player gets one card. Very young players can share with a buddy.
Announce the pattern
Start with a single line; save four corners and full house for later rounds.
Draw and call
Pull a slip, call the letter and number clearly, then repeat it. Mark it on the caller sheet.
Players mark matches
Anyone with that number covers it. The center free square is already covered.
Call it out
The first player to complete the pattern shouts the call word and reads their numbers back.
Verify and reset
Check against the caller sheet, award a prize and clear the cards for the next round.

Host notes

Prizes do not need to cost anything. Privilege prizes — choosing the next game, first pick of dessert, a pass on doing the dishes — are often more popular than trinkets, and they keep the evening moving. For very young players, use picture bingo: replace numbers with simple drawings of animals or fruit and call them out with a sound or a gesture.

People bingo works best in the first twenty minutes of a party, while guests are still arriving and looking for a reason to talk. Ask that each person’s name appears only once per card, so players have to speak to several people rather than filling a row from one chatty friend.
